Cape Ann Symphony - 75th Fantastique!

Cape Ann Symphony - 75th Fantastique!

09-26-2026 2:00 pm
Cape Ann Symphony 75th Fantastique! — a breathtaking French masterworks program that launches our historic season in spectacular style. Experience Lili Boulanger's shimmering D'un matin de printemps (Of a Spring Morning), a luminous impressionistic gem by one of the first women to win the prestigious Prix de Rome. Debussy's evocative three-movement seascape La Mer follows, painting the ocean from dawn to noon, the play of waves, and the dialogue of wind and sea in glorious orchestral color. The program culminates with Berlioz's monumental Symphonie Fantastique — a revolutionary five-movement journey through an artist's obsessive passion, complete with a haunting recurring melody (the idée fixe), a dramatic "March to the Scaffold," and the wild, supernatural "Dream of a Witches' Sabbath." It's one of the most dramatic and imaginative works in the orchestral repertoire and an unforgettable way to celebrate 75 years of musical excellence.

The Knights and Emanuel Ax - Music Worcester

10-16-2026 7:30 pm
The 2026-2027 Season kicks off with a performance of Mozart concertos by the legendary Emanuel Ax and The Knights chamber orchestra. Ax is routinely included on any list of the country’s best classical pianists, while The Knights are an adventurous group of musicians, who have been called the future of classical music in America. Together, they deliver a program that features two Mozart piano concertos – No. 17 in G Major, and No. 25 in C Major, plus and an overture by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a French composer of African descent from the early Classical Era. Enjoy the levity of French Classical music (ornamentation, color, decadence) alongside Mozart’s willingness to stick by, yet stylize the rules. Program Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges – Overture to L’amant anonyme W.A. Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453 W.A. Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major, K. 503
